Spine Research Group
Our way of performing highly specialized spine surgery is based on three pillars. Experienced spine surgeons and specialized care facilities, advanced surgical technologies and extensive research within our field of expertise.
In order to carry out highly specialized surgery it is important to possess the necessary technologies Since 2008 we have used the O-arm® for all deformity surgeries. Since 2015 the EOS biplanar slot scanner has been used for the radiographic evaluation of spinal deformities.
We aim to do research in all the areas mentioned above with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes and patient satisfaction. This should be done through involvement of the patients (shared care).
We have a special interest in clinical decision support systems and clinical databases. A Result of this can be seen on https://dynamisknomogramse.shinyapps.io/dynnomapp/. This clinical decision support tool aims to predict the probability of a favorable outcome following lumbar spine fusion and is based on data from more than 1000 Scandinavian patients.
To be able to do the necessary analyses we commit ourselves to use the latest technologies - artificial intelligence (including machine learning and deep learning), data engineering, data mining etc. We are dedicated to the use of open resources, especially the R language.
We want to be part of the open science movement as far as possible. Patients’ rights are a thing that is taken for granted in this context. Open science should cover all aspects of scientific research – open data, open source, open methodology, open peer review, open access and open educational resources.
The basis for scientific research is collaboration and collaboration between experts in different fields have become increasingly important in todays world. We aim to collaborate at a local, regional, national and international level. Locally we collaborate closely with the EOS group. As a potential partner in future projects, we welcome you to contact us. For more information on our partners and details of our research please find the presentation of our research 2020/21.
