The EOS Research Group
The EOS research group at Aalborg University hospital is dedicated to understanding the interaction between spine, hip and lower limbs. All research is centered around the EOS scanner that allows us to obtain low-dose biplanar radiographs of the human body in standing and sitting positions. The EOS biplane images furthermore allow for 3D reconstruction of the spine and pelvis.
Our mission is to improve the clinical outcome for our patients through a deeper understanding of the biomechanics and functional anatomy of the spine and pelvis.
Current research areas:
- The use of EOS in diagnostics and monitoring of patients with scoliosis.
- Optimizing radiographic scoliosis protocols and reducing radiation exposure.
- Evaluating the interactions between spine and pelvic parameters in order to optimize the placement of a total hip arthroplasty.
The main objective of our research is to transform our basic EOS research into clinical practice. Objectives are reached by internal as well as external collaboration. Our dedicated research team has great experience within general orthopedic surgery as well as basic research.
