Rasmus Elsoe
Rasmus is Head of Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedic Trauma Research unit, Aalborg University hospital. His primary research interest is bone fractures of the lower extremities. He aims to understand 1) the development in QOL and function following complex bone fractures, 2) why some patients develop long-lasting severe pain, 3) identify risk factors of worse outcomes, 4) how to best surgically and non-surgically treat patients following a bone fracture.
After finishing my PhD in tibial plateau fractures in 2016 I became associated professor at Aalborg University Hospital. In 2017 I become the head of Orthopaedic Trauma and the Orthopaedic Trauma Research unit. The continues development in high quality in treatment of patients, research and orthopaedic trauma education and team training is my main areas of interest. Trauma patients may experience a sudden life-changing event and has long lasting pain and functional disabilities as a result of the trauma. I find, that helping patients minimize consequences of musculoskeletal trauma is greatly rewarding and through research in the area, can greatly improve the QOL of our patients.
