It is now possible to pick up your specialized cost-free medicines from a medicine post box (MPB) – in the same way as you would pick up a parcel from a parcel post box.
Using the MPB, you can avoid transport to, for example, the hospital in Aalborg/Hjørring to pick up the medicine, and you can also decide your pick-up time.
You can pick up your medicine every day around the clock.
How to order medicine
Verify with the hospital staff whether there is a need for you to come to the hospital for a consultation. If not, you will only need to pick up the medicine from the MPB.
If you only need to pick up the medicine, the staff will inform the Hospital Pharmacy to deliver your medicine to the MPB.
Some patients will need to talk to the hospital staff every time they run out of medicine (one-time order).
Other patients will receive a prescription with a repeatable medicine delivery (multiple orders). The hospital staff will inform you if you get a prescription with a repeatable medicine delivery. The hospital staff will mark on the order when your first medicine delivery will be made to the MPB.
The next time you wish to have the medicine delivered to the MPB, you will need to contact the Hospital Pharmacy. You can do this by writing an email to the Hospital Pharmacy with digital mail via this link:https://sygehusapoteket.RN.dk/patienter.
Please place your order well in advance, preferably 7 days before the day you want to have the medicine delivered to the MPB. Then a new medicine delivery will be made to the MPB.
In some cases, individual agreements may be made regarding re-orders to the MPB. Hospital staff will inform you if this applies to you.

How to pick up your medicine
- When your medicine is ready, you will receive an SMS. In the SMS there is a code that you must use to open the door of the MPB.
- Once you have entered the SMS code, you must enter the last 4 digits of the CPR number of the person using the medicine.
- If your medicine takes up more than one box compartment, you will receive 2 SMSes and must collect the medicine from 2 compartments.
- It will also be the case if you need to collect two types of medicine at the same time, where one of them needs to be kept in room temperature and the other in the refrigerator.
- You have 4 days to pick up the medicine before it is sent back.
Please be aware
If you wish to collect a medicine that must be refrigerated, please make sure to bring a suitable packaging to carry it home.
Inform the staff if you need a box compartment with a particular height – not too high and not too low.
