Forskning på Klinisk Genetisk Afdeling

Department of Clinical Genetics conduct research into diseases and the risk of disease in which genetics is a contributing factor. In some cases, this involves rare disorders with a monogenic or chromosomal aetiology. In other cases, it concerns common diseases or conditions whose causes are a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

In some instances, the research question arises directly from the clinical work we are engaged in on a daily basis, and the results can be applied rapidly. In other cases, we take advantage of the fact that nature itself has “conducted experiments,” generating knowledge of a more basic, fundamental research character.
