What are the key resistance exercises used during early functional rehabilitation for Achilles Tendon ruptures?
In a systematic review of the literature we found general poor reporting of the exercises. The most commonly used exercises during the first 8 weeks of treatment consisted of either isometric, heel raises or with external resistance. Only 13% of the included studies included the most commonly used information regarding load, repetitions and sets. The lack of specific exercise description impairs the ability to replicate exercises in the clinical setting and in future research.
