New publication – Orthopaedic venous thromboembolism

Venous thromboembolism after lower extremity orthopedic surgery: A population‐based nationwide cohort study.

Interdisciplinary collaboration using Danish nationwide register data, from 1 million orthopedic surgical procedures of the lower limb, show markedly higher rates of VTE compared with matched controls. This was particularly evident for patients >40 years of age and for those with a history of VTE before orthopedic surgery.
