Spine disorders are among the most frequent diseases with a very broad range of conditions. It affects both young and old, there are acute and chronic illness. This makes spine surgery complex with a need for solid evidence to ensure the best treatment. Our aim is to improve quality, by conducting research to support decision making.
I had my specialist training in Orthopedics in various departments in Jutland. Early on spine surgery and research caught my interest. In 2019 I was offered a position at Aalborg University Hospital with the opportunity to do a PhD, which I completed in June 2021.
My PhD project investigated the repair of annulus fibrosus, part of the cartilage disc between the vertebral bones. Other current projects in the spine group concerns scoliosis and the use of CT and x-ray in spine surgery.
